Sadly, I took off my arm sleeves and cotton gloves on my Saturday run and didn’t remember to pick them up on my return trip… so they’re lost! Oh well- it serves me right. The arm sleeves were one of my favorite accessories! What are your favorites? My GPS watch (or smartwatch/phone) is my #1 running accessory. It’s been like that for a long time, ever since I got a Garmin 201 way back in 2004. I’m on my 3rd or 4th GPS watch now… but check out the podcast to find out what other accessories Kaylyn and I use on a daily basis!

Welcome to Episode 12! Finally decided that my shoes were close to the end, so this episode is about the search for some new shoes.

You’d think that since I have a shoe store, I’d always have decent shoes, but I’m as bad as anyone else. I always tell myself to alternate shoes and I try to plan ahead, but the reality is that I wait until my shoes are practically in tatters before I’m thinking about new ones. In this episode I try on some Hoka One One Clifton 4’s, some Brooks Levitate shoes and a pair of Asics Gel Nimbus. Watch or listen to find out which one I chose!

Today we have 3 things going on. First, I start talking about some new running shoes, the Altra Escalades, that I’m trying out and that turns into a full-fledged YouTube video that we’ll link to at the end of the show. Next is our 2nd installment of This Could Be You, which today features a community in Scotland where runners and walkers have been set upon by a very protective buzzard, and finally we talk to our friend Marc Baker, who’s opening Conquest Obstacle Gym in Chattanooga, TN in 2 weeks.

Mike runs along the Chattahoochee River to the rythym of a 173-BPM (86 BPM) cadence soundtrack.  The crew discusses running in the heat. We test Tyler’s knowledge of prescription medicine side effects, and talk about which ‘tempo pace’ shoe Tyler will purchase. Mike runs past crack smokers, a woman using the road as her own personal latrine, and runs underneath a C-130 heading towards Fort Benning.
